Carte du Monde - 1941, Japon

Hayashi Hideharu - Newest Detailed Map of the World - 1941

"Large, unusual and very rare WW2 Japanese world map,
made 3 weeks before Pearl Harbour attack in Hawaii.

Size: 76 x 108 cm.

Condition: Very good condition. Slight wear along fold lines. Slightly age-toned paper. One tear repaired with archival tape on verso. Small pinholes and wear in corners, where the map was probably pinned to a wall.

A very detailed Japanese WW2 map of the world, showing 16 flags of various nations, including USA, Britain, Japan, Belgium, France, Germany and Manchuria, a puppet state of Japan in north China.

The map has many sea shipping lanes and aircraft flight paths between different countries. Interestingly, this map was published on June 15th, 1941, just a few weeks before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. However, the map clearly shows Japanese aircraft flight paths from Japan to Pearl Harbour in Hawaii."
